WHAT'S NEW FOR 2011?
Lakes Area Credit Union is excited to announce the availability of two new services beginning in the New Year - Mobile Banking and eAlerts! Both services will strongly benefit those members who own handheld devices such as cell phone or PDAs.
MOBILE BANKING: is a term used for performing balance inquiries, account transactions, and payments via a mobile device such as a cell phone or a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). Currently, Lakes Area Credit Union (LACU) offers an html webpage that is optimized for display on such handheld devices, but Online Banking is currently not optimized. Currently, the content is small, difficult to read, and is hard to use. Mobile Banking will solve those issues allowing our members to make transfers, payments, and balance inquiries right from their mobile devices with EASE!
eALERTS: Members can establish their own criteria so eAlerts will electronically notify them when certain transactions or events happen with their LACU accounts. Each eAlert can be sent to multiple e-mail addresses or cell phone numbers within minutes of the actual transactions. With eAlerts, you'll know immediately when any of the following occur:
• Low balance (member must establish this criteria)
• Non-sufficient funds (NSF) notice
• Courtesy pay notice
• Overdraw transfer notice
• Large withdrawal (member must establish this criteria)
• AND MORE!!
eAlerts will help our members to manage their funds, and can be set to monitor just one or several of their LACU accounts. eAlerts can also provide our members with information on their certificates and loans. Just think how easy it would be to receive a message that your certificate is maturing or your car payment is due!

2.) Select “Bill Payments” to enroll in FREE Online Bill Pay

A recent change to your checking account was approved by the Federal Government (effective August 15th, 2010) which will affect the level of service we provide to you. Your action is required otherwise your checking account features will no longer be the same. OPT-IN NOW!
New regulations require us to get your permission before covering your overdrafts for debit card transactions made with your Lakes Area Credit Union ATM or debit card.
Beginning August 15, 2010, unless you give us permission, we must decline all one-time debit card and ATM transactions on accounts that do not have sufficient funds. To avoid having your transactions declined at the point of sale or ATM machine, you are required to OPT-IN and tell us that you want your overdraft protection to continue. You must
OPT-IN for each individual personal checking account you have with us. Your election applies only to electronic debit card transactions and will not affect Overdraft Advance on your checks, ACH or recurring debit card payments.
